“Yizkor,” the Hebrew word for “remember,” is also the name of a set of volumes published by Israel’s Ministry of Defense. The books contain the names, photographs and biographies of all the fallen in the ranks of Tzahal (the IDF) during the wars for Israel’s independence and survival. Several volumes have already been published, and sadly, more are being prepared to include the fallen from the recent wars. Yizkor is not sold in bookstores but is given to the bereaved families of Israel’s war dead.
